Platy is all about inclusivity and diversity.

The Problem.

1. Mistranslations

Menus are often not provided in other languages or are mistranslated.

2. Lack of transparency

Lack of transparency of ingredients used in dishes, combined with poor inclusivity for different dietary needs, leads users to feel anxious and stressed.

3. Overall poor communication

Overall poor communication, leading to misunderstandings between the customer and restaurant.

We see the
world,
not as it is.

But as it should
be.

We Are Striving For A More Inclusive Japan,
A More Inclusive World.

What may seem like common knowledge in one part of the world, may not be common knowledge in another. In Japan, a country where most of its population have no specific dietary restrictions, it can be rather challenging for individuals who have them constantly need to explain themselves, explore new foods, and eat in peace. From language barriers to less-inclusive menus, it gets tiring sometimes. Inspired by our own personal experiences in Japan, we decided to build Platy, an up-and-coming startup from Fukuoka. We don't want you to ever feel limited again when it comes to food options.

We have been pitching and sharing our story, vision and idea since September 2023; the journey has only just begun.

Sabrina Suhaimi
CEO | Design & Operations Lead

Born and raised in Singapore, Sabrina is a trained visual artist with a deep interest in entrepreneurship and big data. After moving to Japan, she faced several challenges having to constantly explain her Halal diet. Motivated to eradicate this need and ensure inclusivity, she's on a mission to make dietary requirements viewed as the norm.

Yong Jun Hao

Born and raised in Malaysia, Jun grew up with a seafood allergy. His personal encounters with severe allergic reactions, even ER visits, have inspired him to blend his technological expertise with a vision. Jun aims to tackle the challenges confronted by individuals directly or indirectly affected by dietary restrictions.

Ryo Kawamura
CIO | Information Technology Lead

Ryo grew up in Japan with an egg allergy, and he has faced the challenges of managing dietary restrictions firsthand. From navigating restaurant menus to ensuring food safety, these personal experiences inspired Ryo to combine his passion for technology and research. An avid app developer since high school, Ryo also conducts research in allergy-related medical imaging AI at university. His goal is to create solutions that not only help individuals with food allergies but also foster an inclusive world where people can feel confident and supported in their daily lives.

Ayana Otsu
COO | Data Analytics Lead

Born in Japan and raised between Japan and Singapore, Ayana struggled to maintain a vegetarian lifestyle when she decided to become a vegetarian due to limited options in Japan. This led her to develop a mobile app supporting vegetarians grocery shopping when she was a high school student. Seeing a greater need in dining out, she expanded her vision to make Japan more accessible for people with a dietary restriction, combining her engineering skills with a passion for inclusivity.
